Season Narrative

Running it Back with Big Penix Energy

The 2025 season represented the beginning of yet another NFL era. The league's old guard was still around, but the center of gravity was moving.

The new generation of quarterbacks, receivers and running backs had become the stars fantasy managers were building entire teams around. The NFL was increasingly defined by explosive passing offenses, mobile quarterbacks, versatile running backs and young receivers capable of becoming immediate focal points. The season's top individual scorer was Christian McCaffrey with 416.60 points, after several seasons of screwing over fantasy managers through injury-plagued seasons, he returned to being the sort of player whose presence could define an entire fantasy roster.

And the league responded in kind. Spencer's Big Penix Energy won the 2025 championship, giving Spencer his second consecutive championship, after finishing the regular-season with a pedestrian 6–8 record. Spencer's victory was made even more impressive by the fact that he managed to turn chicken shit into chicken salad, winning despite a league-worst 'D-' draft grade. Owen, achieved a similar 'D-' draft grade, proving the Yahoo draft-grade algorithm might not be useless when he managed to win the league's 2025 Sacko Award honor.

In 2025, the league welcomed three new members - Nathaniel, Kali, and Dena - as the league expanded back to 10 teams after the departure of "Captain Auto-draft" Peter. The regular-season champion was Nathaniel's Iron Wall Nathanielq, which went 11–3. Alex Conway's There Goes The NabersHood finished 10–4 and was the league's highest-scoring team with 2,235.90 points.

Lynna’s 'A Tale of Two Chases' might have finished mid-table, but you can't say it was for lack of effort - she remained the league's activity engine with 41 roster moves during the season. Yet once again, the postseason belonged to Spencer, riding workhorses Bijan Robinson and Josh Allen through the post season bracket. And this time the championship came down to an historically small margin.

In Week 17, Spencer beat Alex in the BSB Fantasy championship by the closest margin in league championship history, 161.20–161.08. Just twelve hundredths of a point. After all the blowouts, all the 2,000-point teams, all the dominant regular seasons, all the heartbreaking losses and all the champions who had barely survived the regular season, the latest championship in league history was decided by 0.12 points.

Spencer had started the decade as a manager capable of producing huge scores but struggling to turn them into championships. In 2025, he became a back-to-back champion.
