2016 Season

After a one-year hiatus in 2015, the league returned in 2016 to an NFL that looked very different.

Peyton Manning took his Budweiser and road off into the sunset after concluding his HoF career with his second Lombardi. Cam Newton was coming off his monster 2015 MVP season, where the Panthers went 15-1. The Cowboys suddenly discovered their future with rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. David Johnson emerged as a fantasy monster. And perhaps most importantly, the NFL's next generation was beginning to take over.

And Aaron Rodgers — the fantasy QB king of the season in our league scoring — was busy producing the second-half explosion that helped turn the Packers into a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Then the Patriots produced 28–3. Atlanta's spectacular collapse in Super Bowl LI gave Tom Brady another championship and became perhaps the defining moment of the entire Patriots era.

Blood Sweat and Beers produced its own surprise champion. Amosa's team, 🖕🖕, won the championship, despite finishing the regular season 8–5. Mario's ESports finished second, also at 8–5, while Alex actually posted the league's best regular-season record at 9–4, but failed to reach the championship game.

The season was extremely competitive at the top. Four teams finished 8–5 or better, and Owen's The Sillinannies quietly led the league in scoring with 1,651.66 points despite finishing fifth at 7–6 demonstrating that being good at fantasy football and being good at winning fantasy football games are not always the same thing. Peter delivered the season's most extreme example, beating Owen by 78.14 points in Week 14. A few weeks earlier, Peter had beaten Alec by a mere 0.28 points in the smallest margin of victory of the season.

In the first season back in action, the league saw unprecendented fresh blood with seven new members joining, many of whom becoming fixtures in the league for years to come. The league's second act had begun.
