2017 Season

2017 was a season of contradictions.

Carson Wentz looked like an MVP before an ACL injury ended his season. Todd Gurley went from fantasy disappointment to one of the best players in football. Alvin Kamara and Kareem Hunt exploded onto the scene. The Jaguars' Sacksonville defense suddenly looked terrifying. And the Eagles, deprived of their injured star quarterback, rode Nick Foles all the way to the Super Bowl.

Then came one of the most legendary moments in Super Bowl history - the Philly Special. Philadelphia beat New England 41–33, giving the Eagles their franchise's first Super Bowl championship.

In our league, Alex's MakAmericaGronkAgain had his own championship run. Alex finished 9–4, tied with Anna and Peter near the top of the regular season table, while Owen's Sillinannies actually finished with the league's best record at 10–3. Yet it was Alex who ultimately took home the championship. Alex's 1,618.26 points were also good enough for tops in the league.

Anna's Super Hot 🔥🔥🔥 finished second, making her the year's runner-up despite scoring only 1,411.96 points. The league's parity was becoming obvious: regular-season dominance didn't guarantee postseason success.

Spencer Potts, meanwhile, endured a brutal campaign with Turn Down for Watt. He finished 2–11 and absorbed the league's largest blowout, losing to Amosa by 93.80 points in Week 15. Spencer also participated in the year's highest-scoring matchup, a 314.62-point shootout against Mario Angulo, which he also lost.

Alex's first league victory had to help soften the blow of watching his favorite team lose in the Super Bowl to a backup quarterback.
