2018 Season

2018 may have been the season when the NFL most obviously transformed into the modern league. Patrick Mahomes took over as Kansas City's starter and immediately threw 50 touchdowns, winning over the hearts and minds of fantasy managers and Cris Collinsworth alike.

Christian McCaffrey became an elite PPR running back. Saquon Barkley arrived with more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage. George Kittle shattered the single-season receiving-yardage record for a tight end. And then, on Monday Night Football in November, the Rams and Chiefs played one of the greatest regular-season games ever: 54–51. One hundred and five total points. The league was becoming a video game.

Mahomes finished as our league's top player with a staggering 467.08 points, and Owen apparently decided that the obvious strategy was to build an entire identity around him.

Alex Conway's Pimpin Ain't Breesy dominated the regular season at 10–3 and scored a league-high 1,770.90 points, and yet it was not enough to pull off a championship victory.

That honor went to Peter Rodelo and Sneak and Destroy. Peter also finished 10–3, but his team delivered when it mattered most, making him the 2018 champion, and winning Peter his first hardware. The season even contained a fitting matchup: Mario Angulo's No Romo and Alex's Pimpin Ain't Breesy combined for 336.88 points, with Alex winning 204.14–132.74.

The real NFL story was Mahomes. The league story was Peter proving that even the highest-scoring team doesn't necessarily get the trophy.
