2019 Season

If 2018 introduced Patrick Mahomes, 2019 was the coming out party for the other player who would redefine fantasy quarterbacks: Lamar Jackson.

Jackson rushed for more than 1,200 yards while throwing 36 touchdown passes en route to winning the NFL's MVP award. Christian McCaffrey had perhaps the greatest fantasy season of the era, producing 2,392 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns.

Michael Thomas set the NFL's single-season reception record caught 149 passes. Derrick Henry emerged as an unstoppable force. And the Kansas City Chiefs won their first Super Bowl of the Mahomes era, defeating San Francisco after another improbable postseason comeback, and kicking off the Chiefs dynasty.

The name of the league's eventual champion couldn't have been more appropriate: Lynna Nguyen's NoPlaceLikeMahomes won the 2019 championship. Lynna won it all despite finishing only 7–6 in the regular season — hardly dominant. Owen's Sillinannies were the true regular-season powerhouse, going 10–3 and scoring a league-best 1,670.06 points, but had to settle for runner-up. Yet once again, the postseason defied all logic. 2019 solidified Lynna’s status as a 'big game' manager and extended Owen’s wait for that elusive first trophy.

Spencer’s 'Hide & Zeke' managed to secure a podium finish at 3rd, while Mario and 'Andrew Luck Who?' settled for 4th after a very strong 'A' graded draft that couldn't quite survive the playoff gauntlet. This was the era of the 'Lamar Jackson Cheat Code,' and while several teams benefited from the mobile QB revolution, Lynna’s balanced roster and timely waiver moves were the difference. Alex and his 'All I Do Is Winston' squad provided the season's most erratic entertainment, catching Jameis Winston’s historic 30/30 (touchdowns/interceptions) season for an 8th place finish.

The season produced one of the league's closest finishes when Spencer's Hide & Zeke beat Alex Conway's All I Do Is Winston by 0.12 points — 127.46 to 127.34. Alex's season otherwise went badly. All I Do Is Winston finished 3–10 despite scoring 1,455.36 points and taking the league's highest points-against total. And perhaps appropriately for a season dominated by Lamar and Mahomes, the league's top individual scorer was Jackson, with 451.68 points.

The era of the fantasy quarterback cheat code had arrived.
