2023 Season

The 2023 NFL season was a passing of the torch.

Christian McCaffrey returned to the top of the fantasy universe. CeeDee Lamb became a superstar. Tyreek Hill flirted with impossible numbers. And then an unknown fifth-round rookie named Puka Nacua exploded onto the scene.

Sam LaPorta immediately became a fantasy TE1. Jahmyr Gibbs and De'Von Achane demonstrated just how explosive the new generation of running backs could be. The Lions won their division and came within one game of the Super Bowl, thanks to Gamblin' Dan Campbell. Brock Purdy went from "Mr. Irrelevant" to MVP candidate. And Taylor Swift became part of the NFL's weekly cultural conversation thanks to her very public relationship with the future Mr. Swift, Travis Kelce. The Chiefs were inevitable, and ultimately won another Super Bowl over the San Francisco 49ers.

Our league, meanwhile, produced one of its biggest championship surprises.

Alec's Cleveland Brown Nosers won the title.

Alec put up a notably mediocre 7–7 record during the regular-season. The regular-season crown belonged to Harley's Less Christian Moore Mingle, who went 10–4. Lynna's Gettin Diggs-y With It was the league's highest-scoring team at 2,174.52 points, narrowly ahead of Harley's 2,173.14. Spencer also put up big numbers all season, scoring a third-best 2,121.96.

Yet Alec walked away with the championship in a smash-and-grab playoff coup. Despite squeaking into the playoff bracked as the 6th and lowest seed, he turned it on late and worked his way through a competitve playoff field to take down Spencer - always the bridesmaid - who lost again in his third trip to the championship game.

And once again, the league demonstrated that regular-season dominance was no guarantee of postseason glory. Spencer’s 'Tua-finity & Beyond' pulled off the move of the year by finishing as the runner-up despite a D+ draft grade—a masterclass in failing upward that has become Spencer's calling card. Lynna also recovered from a D+ draft to take 3rd, while Alex’s championship defense ended in a 7th place fizzle.

Harley’s 'Less Christian Moore Mingle' had a fantastic A- draft and was the league's regular season scoring leader (2173 PF), but once again, the high-scorer curse struck as she finished 4th. Stephen’s 'Sauced Up Sallies' was the league's new 'minimalist' king, making only 2 roster moves all year but somehow finishing 5th—a result that annoyed the managers who spent hours on the waiver wire only to finish below him. Kyle's 'Burrows before Hoes' finished last at 8th after his namesake QB suffered a season-ending injury, a brutal blow for the former champ.

The matchups were ridiculous. Kyle and Harley combined for a season-high 375.54 points in Week 10. Spencer eeked out a victory over Harley by 0.20 points in Week 16. And Amosa delivered a 104.74-point demolition of Stephen in Week 11. The league had become a place where virtually anything could happen.

Even a 7–7 team could win the championship.
